History of Trinidad and Tobago

 Trinidad and Tobago was first named by the famous traveler Christopher Columbus  who clammed it for Spain in July 31 1498.The name was supposedly derives from when the traveler seeing the three peaks of mountains called the Three Sisters of the Southern Ridge.




The Islands have deep ties to Britain as reflected in parts of its government reflected its own.It gained independence from the country in 1962.  It has a prime minster and claims Britain's Queen as their own.



Ties of its Colonial upbringings can be seen all throughout its culture such as how many of its inhabitants celebrate Catholic Holidays such as Ash Wednesday. Many different religions  are present in the island such as  Evangelical, Baptist, Anglican ,Presbyterian and many more.
